Rods - 7, 8 or 9 weight rods for bonefish, multi-piece rods will make travel much easier.
Reels - reels should be anodized machine aluminum with quality disk drags. Reels should have a minimum of 200 yards of 20lbs backing.
Extra spools and reel pouches are advisable Fly lines - weight forward 7, 8 or 9 saltwater floating lines.
Recommended color - sandstone Nippers/Hook hone/Hemostats/Pliers.
Warm weather clothing - Clothing that is meant for the tropics that will keep you from getting hot and tired
Rain gear - It sometimes rains here Hat, Flats booties, Polarized Sunglasses, Suntan block, minimum SPF30 and lip balm.
Gear bag - water proof bag is best for boating
Bonefish Are not pressured by fly fishermen, they are extremely smart. And they did not get this big by being dumb. Permit upwards of 30 lbs, frequent this area, frustrating most fishermen with a fly rod. They will occasionally cruise the shore line within casting distance. Most times you will be quietly stalking this fish a little further out on the flat. If you are lucky enough to fool one, hold on, Permits are a strong and extremely hard fighting fish. Barracuda in varying sizes and quantities are seen regularly in these waters. Tarpon are also found here during the warmer months.
